Carbondale Education Association to Host Public Education Rally on May 1, 2017

to Host Rally for Public Education
Carbondale, IL- The Carbondale Education Association will be partnering with Carbondale Elementary School District No. 95 on May 1, 2017 for the purpose of hosting a rally for public education. There will be rally events held at each District 95 school, 30 minutes before the start of the school day. Rally events will begin at Parrish, Thomas and Lewis Schools at 7:45 AM. Rally events will begin at Carbondale Middle School at 7:15 AM. Parents, teachers, community members and students are invited to attend the public education rally. Students must be accompanied by an adult in order to attend to public education rally.
There will be presenters at each location who will share information on the importance of public education. Presenters will include Laura Bishop, Dr. Saran Donahoo, Betsy Brown and Mayor John “Mike” Henry. Attendees are encouraged to bring signs promoting public education. Donuts and juice will be available until they run out. Participants will be provided with information on how they can get involved and become advocates for public education. All events will take place outside on school grounds. Activities will be moved inside in the event of inclement weather.
The Carbondale Education Association/ Carbondale Elementary School District No. 95 Rally for Public Education on May 1, 2017 is one of many events being held across the state of Illinois on May 1st in connection with the Illinois Education Association's Committee to Combat Attacks on Public Education. The purpose of CAPE (Committee to Combat Attacks on Public Education) is to provide truthful information about public education.
