notebook for essay writing

As originally reported by The Southern Illinoisan:

As part of their annual breakfast to honor Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, the Carbondale chapter of the NAACP hosted an essay contest for students within each of Carbondale's four school districts. This year's essay topic was "Strength To Love", named after a 1963 publication of one of King's sermons.

Several winners were CES95 students, including the following:

Jory Abdullah, 3rd grade student of Jamel Jenkins of Thomas School

Alexis Miner, 3rd grade student of Brittany Bell of Thomas School

Jordan Johnson and Grant Hertzing, both 4th grade students of Pam Chappell of Lewis School

Toni Issac and Jackie Pollard, 8th grade students of Alfred McGowan of Carbondale Middle School

We like to congratulate all our students who entered the contest in representing the District!
