CHECK OUT DISTRICT #95'S NEW CURRICULUM WEBPAGES

Wondering what is expected of your child in school?

Now you can use the new Curriculum & Instruction webpages to gain a better sense of what is expected of your child in each grade, in each subject.

Within the pages you find the Scope and Sequence documents for each grade, which is an overall plan that teachers use to plan instruction aligned to the Illinois Learning Standards. Teachers started building these plans last school year and completed them during the school closure, working on curriculum teams led by Janice Pavelonis, Asst. Supt. of Curriculum and Instruction. On the Curriculum pages, parents can also find summaries for each subject area and ideas for activities to do with their child.

The Scope and Sequence documents have already earned high praise from district representatives and teachers like Lindsay Franks, a first-grade teacher at Parrish.

"It's awesome that we have a document like this, especially for our new teachers," Mrs. Franks said.

Mrs. Pavelonis agreed.

"We are excited to have these plans in place because this sets the foundation for our future curriculum improvement," she shared. "Our teachers learned so much during our time working on these as well. I'm proud of them for their commitment to getting these things right. They are the best!"
