I was first hired as an Instructional Aide in 1992 in Carbondale Elementary School District. In 1995 I was hired as a Fifth Grade Teacher at Thomas School. After three years of Fifth Grade, I was honored with the opportunity to train as a Reading Recovery Teacher. I have been teaching First Graders in Reading Recovery ever since. I love watching and being a part of first graders discovering the joy of reading!

My husband and I live in Carbondale. We have one daughter and son-in-law. My daughter is also a teacher. In my spare time I enjoy quilting, reading, and spending time with my family.

Hello, my name is Suzy Snider. I have enjoyed the opportunity to teach and work with children for over twenty-five years. In the past I have taught pre-k and kindergarten and am excited to currently be teaching reading. I live in Carbondale with my husband, Don, and my two sons, Derrick and Luke. In my free time I enjoy camping, playing with my dog, Biscuit, and most of all I enjoy reading!

I look forward to working with children as unique and individual learners and helping students become life long learners and readers.

Mrs. Chrissy Young

Orginally from DeKalb, IL, I started my journey as an educator at Illinois State University, graduating in 2011 with a B.S. in Elementary Education.  My journey continued in Galesburg, IL, where I accepted my first teaching position and was trained as a Reading Recovery teacher.  After four years of teaching Reading Recovery in Galesburg, I chose to plant my roots in Southern Illinois and have been teaching Reading Recovery and RTI at Parrish Elementary since 2015.

My passion for teaching and learning stems from a long line of educators in my family, including my great-grandmother, grandmother, mother, brother, aunts and cousins.  I greatly enjoy watching students explore literacy and build their confidence as readers and writers.
